What To Expect

Cool off in the rainforest on a guided Cairns rainforest river tubing adventure. After departing Cairns, your guides transport you south of the city to one of several pristine rainforest waterways. The exact location is chosen on the day depending on river conditions to ensure the safest and most enjoyable tubing experience.

Possible locations include Behana Gorge or Mulgrave river all known for their clear tropical waters and untouched rainforest scenery.

Once equipped with your tube and safety gear, follow your experienced guide down the river. The current carries you gently downstream, passing beneath towering rainforest trees, moss-covered rocks and dense vines that line the riverbanks.

Along the way the river alternates between calm drifting sections and playful rapids. Small rapids add excitement as you bounce through the flowing water, while a few larger sections provide a burst of adrenaline. Your guides remain nearby throughout the journey, helping guests navigate the rapids safely and ensuring everyone enjoys the ride.

The surrounding rainforest is rich with wildlife, and it is common to see birds, butterflies, freshwater turtles, fish and lizards during the tour. • Suitable for people of all experience levels, you’ll float on professional, high quality, twin chamber tubes down the river and across small, fun rapids. There’s a free snack included in the tour and you have the option of hiring shoes and/or a water proof spray jacket. You should bring a towel and wear a swimming costume under your clothes. Please bring water resistant sunscreen and insect repellent with you and leave your jewellery and valuables at your accommodation.

• Rapid grade description:
• Grade 1: Rapids are small to regular waves. The passage is clear and easy to recognise and negotiate. Care may be needed with obstacles like fallen trees and bridge piers.
• Grade 2: Rapids with regular medium sized waves (less than 1 m); low ledges or drops; easy eddies and gradual bends. The passage is easy to recognise and is generally unobstructed although there may be rocks in the main current, overhanging branches, or log jams.
• Valuables should be left at your accommodation.
