    Kuranda Scenic Train: travel on board the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway from the quaint mountain top village of Kuranda to picturesque Freshwater Train Station.  Built back in the late 1800’s you’ll enjoy the tales of the early pioneers who constructed the rail line as you travel through 15 tunnels and over 37 bridges!

    Meet your local guide at the cableway’s Smithfield Terminal and relax on the return coach journey to Cairns, Northern Beaches or Port Douglas.

In 2026, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will undergo an exciting upgrade project to further enhance the guests experience. 
Including:

  • Replacement of all cableway infrastructure and gondolas
  • Improved accessibility
  • Quieter, smoother journey

As part of Skyrail’s scheduled upgrade project, the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will undergo works between 20 July and 25 October 2026, resulting in periods of full closure and modified operations.

Skyrail Full Closure (20th July – 18th August)

  • We’ll operate tours with Coach Transfers to Kuranda + Scenic Rail Journey
  • BONUS entry to choice of Birdworld or Kuranda Koala Gardens

Skyrail Modified Operations (19 August – 25 October)

  • Skyrail will operate between Kuranda ⇄ Barron Falls Station as a Loop experience.
  • We'll operate tours to Kuranda with, Coach Transfers + Scenic Rail + Skyrail Barron Falls loop 
  • BONUS entry to choice of Birdworld or Kuranda Koala Gardens
