The boats

Come aboard!... both vessels; Reef Runner 1 & Reef Runner 11 are custom built vessels with comfort a priority, These charter boats are licenced for 10 passengers and 2 crew but limit numbers to 7. Both vessels feature padded seating, shade canopies, built-in ice boxes, and live bait tanks as well as full safety & electronic equipment for a Cairns fishing trip of a lifetime.

Is Estuary Fishing suitable for all skill levels?

YES! No experience is required to travel on the Cairns Estuary Fishing Tour. These charters are designed to cater for all ages and fishing skill levels and children are always welcome.

 

What can you catch?

Seasonal conditions play a major part in the range of species available at any given time, with the famous barramundi more active during the warmer months of September to March as they prepare for spawning. The Barramundi season is, however, closed during the actual breeding season of November to January inclusive, and all fish caught must be released. Other target species at this time of year include Mangrove Jack, Finger-mark, Tarpon and Grunter.

The cooler months in Cairns are particularly good for Queen Fish and the four species of Trevally encountered locally. These great sportfish can be caught up to 10 kgs, and on light 3-6 kgs tackle offer even the experienced angler a great work out.

All Charters include all freshly caught (by you and your guide) live bait and quality tackle is supplied, once settled into fishing, morning/afternoon tea is also provided. 

 

What do we do with our catch?

Any legal size fish can be released, taken home to be cooked by your goodself back at your accommodation or a chef at one of our regions top restaurants
