What to Expect

Begin the day exploring the natural landscapes of the Gold Coast Hinterland with a guided visit to Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Park, one of the best places near the Gold Coast to see native Australian wildlife in the wild. Walking along quiet bush tracks, you may encounter kangaroos resting in open grasslands and, if you look carefully into the eucalyptus trees, the chance to spot koalas in their natural habitat. This peaceful conservation park is also home to many native birds, reptiles and wetland species, making it an ideal introduction to the region’s diverse ecosystems.

During the tour your guide shares insights into the cultural history of the land and the traditions of the Yugambeh language people, the traditional custodians of this region. The guides delivering these stories have been endorsed by local Aboriginal representatives to respectfully share knowledge of the land, its history and the long connection First Nations people have with this part of South East Queensland.

The journey continues into the lush rainforest of Tamborine National Park where you will enjoy a guided walk to Curtis Falls. This easy rainforest walk leads through ancient trees, towering vines and subtropical vegetation to a picturesque waterfall tucked within the forest. Along the way your guide explains the unique plant species, wildlife habitats and geological history that have shaped the Gold Coast Hinterland.

On Mount Tamborine, a welcoming morning tea awaits. Guests are served freshly baked scones with jam and cream accompanied by tea or coffee in a charming historic setting. Afterward, there is time to explore the famous Gallery Walk precinct, the cultural and shopping hub of Tamborine Mountain. With more than sixty boutique shops and galleries, the street is known for artisan goods, handmade crafts, fashion boutiques, gourmet food stores and locally produced gifts.

Visitors can also discover Tamborine Mountain’s growing reputation for boutique wineries and craft brewing. You may choose to enjoy a tasting of locally produced wines or sample a flight of craft beers at the mountain brewery, both available at your own expense.

Throughout the day your experienced local guide introduces you to some of the Gold Coast Hinterland’s most scenic viewpoints. From the summit of Tamborine Mountain you can take in panoramic views stretching across the hinterland forests to the Gold Coast skyline and coastline beyond, creating a memorable photo opportunity.

Please note that the order of tour stops may vary on the day depending on conditions and the guide’s local knowledge to ensure the best experience.
