Discover the natural beauty of Springbrook National Park on a guided Gold Coast hinterland tour visiting Natural Bridge, Purling Brook Falls and panoramic lookouts while exploring ancient Gondwana rainforest.

What to Expect

Journey into the rainforest-covered mountains of the Gold Coast Hinterland on a guided Springbrook National Park and Natural Bridge tour, where ancient landscapes, towering waterfalls and dramatic volcanic formations reveal the natural history of this World Heritage region.

Only a short drive from the Gold Coast beaches, Springbrook National Park protects part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, a globally significant ecosystem that dates back more than 100 million years. This half-day experience explores the highlights of the park while expert guides share the geological history, wildlife and cultural stories of the region.

The journey begins with a scenic drive through the picturesque Numinbah Valley, a landscape of green farmland framed by steep cliffs and forested mountains. From here the road climbs into the Springbrook plateau where panoramic lookouts reveal views across the Gold Coast skyline, the Tweed Valley and the iconic volcanic peak of Mount Warning (Wollumbin), weather permitting.

One of the most memorable stops is Best of All Lookout, perched high on the escarpment above the ancient Tweed Volcano caldera. A short walk through cool temperate rainforest leads visitors beneath a canopy of Antarctic Beech trees, some more than 3,000 years old. Their twisted trunks and moss-covered roots create a prehistoric atmosphere rarely seen elsewhere in Australia.

The tour continues to the spectacular Purling Brook Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Springbrook National Park. From the lookout platform guests watch as mountain water plunges more than 100 metres into the valley below.

Another highlight is the guided rainforest walk to the Natural Bridge, a remarkable basalt cave and rock arch formed by the power of a cascading waterfall. The path winds through ancient Gondwana rainforest before opening to the cave where water flows through the roof and into a pool beneath the natural stone bridge. Sunlight filtering through the opening creates one of the most photographed natural formations in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
