What To Expect

Pick up from your Cairns accommodation starts approx. 7.15am, pick ups from Northern Beaches around 6.45am. First we head south and make our way to the Atherton Tablelands via the Gillies Highway that provides breathtaking views back down over the Goldsborough Valley.

On the way you will stop at Heales lookout for a fantastic view of the valley streching to the Coral Sea.

As you reach the top of the range witness the flora change to tropical rainforest where an assortment of natural treats await you.

Features & Highlights

- Lake Barrine

Lake Barrine a volcanic crater lake was formed 16,000 years ago and now is home to many species of freshwater marine life and surrounded by dense forest.

A short walk will take you to the magnificient 1000-year-old twin kauri pines.

Then it is time for a delicious morning tea consisting of locally grown tea and coffee served with scones (the recipe goes back four generations, so mot to be missed) presented with  jam and freshly whipped cream.

- Yungaburra

Discover this historical town. Yungaburra is a quaint town showcasing many heritage-listed buildings. From there you will make your way to the magestic Curtain Fig Tree and take a short walk (boardwalk).

- Curtain Figtree and Milla Milla Falls

The scenic drive to Millaaa Millaa Falls you take you through Malanda another historical town. At Millaa Millaa you will have time to admire one of the most photographed waterfall and enjoy a refreshing swim in the refreshing natural pool (optional).

- Lunch

Next up, time for your a la carte lunch before heading to Paronella Park. 

- Paronella Park

The drive from the Atherton Tablelands to Paronella Park will take you through a different type of Australian landscape, sugar cane and banana fields passing through Innisfail.

At paronella Park you will follow a 30 minute guided tour around the park’s gardens, castle ruins and relay the story of Jose Paronella and the magic he created in the 1930’s.

Don't miss the Kauri Avenue to Teresa Falls, the Grand Staircase and suspension bridge over Mena Creek Falls.

Wildlife and plants species are abundant here at Paronella Park, micro bats can be spotted in the tunnel of love and you’ll be able to view many species of butterfly, birdlife and freshwater creatures.

On your way back to Cairns you will have a chance to buy some of our local bananas (optional stop).

Next and if time permits on the day you will have an opportunity to visit Babinda Boulders and there too take another dip in its refresging waters.

You should return to Cairns between 5.30pm and 6.00pm.
