The day begins with a scenic drive into the hinterland as the road climbs through forested valleys to the Tamborine plateau. From the mountain top you will enjoy sweeping views across the Scenic Rim and the Gold Coast coastline while breathing in the cooler mountain air.

A highlight of the tour is a guided rainforest walk through Tamborine Mountain National Park. Your guide will lead you along one of the walking trails through ancient subtropical rainforest to Curtis Falls. Along the way learn about the region’s volcanic origins, the unique ecosystems of the park and the wildlife that inhabits the forest. Towering flooded gums, piccabeen palm groves, giant strangler figs and lush rainforest vegetation create a peaceful environment as you follow the creek to the waterfall.

Curtis Falls cascades over basalt rock formations into a clear rock pool surrounded by dense forest. The area was traditionally known as Joalah, meaning “haunt of the lyrebird,” referencing the Albert’s lyrebird that inhabits the surrounding rainforest. Keep an eye on the water below as turtles, fish, eels and occasionally platypus can sometimes be seen in the pools.
