Birdworld in Kuranda was designed to ‘create a centre where birds would be showcased in their natural environment without the barriers of cages coming between them and their admiring public.’
At Birdworld Kuranda you will find the largest assemblage of free flying birds in Australia with over 75 different species and over 500 birds. Birdworld allows guests to get an exclusive and personal encounter with these amazing living things in an exhibit that perfectly replicates a natural environment.
Birdworld Kuranda is naturally landscaped with lakes, waterfalls, exotic and native plants and a rainforest canopy that serves as a home to the birds and creates a natural backdrop for visitors to enjoy.
Purchase some bird feed upon arrival and lure these amazing creatures on to your shoulder to get an uninterrupted personalised experience with some of the most beautiful birds on earth.
You will see the likes of kookaburras, galahs, macaws, cockatoos and Rainbow lorikeets dancing overhead, and stilts, herons and the elusive Black swans drifting through the lake systems. Rare species such as the scarce cassowary can also be viewed at Birdworld.
If you would like to learn a bit more of what you are seeing than organise a guided tour through the park and enjoy some insightful information. Photo opportunities abound so make sure you don’t forget your camera!
Birdworld is great in combination with its neighboring parks, The Butterfly Sanctuary and The Koala Gardens.
