Our first wildlife immersion is on a Daintree River Wildlife Cruise for two hours on a quiet clean solar electric boat where our river guide will show us the most popular sun baking spots for the local crocodiles all of which have names and their own territories.
This is the only boat on the Daintree River with “Croc Cam” that allows you to see the animals up close.
Your Daintree River guide will be able to tell you about their life stories which you will find of interest and fascination, along with pointing out the species of birds flying about and perched in the river bank trees.
They will spot other wildlife such as pythons who curl up in the trees to catch some sun or wait for unsuspecting prey, brilliantly coloured butterflies, lizards, goannas and lot’s of other native Australia wildlife.
***NB: Should you be an avid birder or twitcher we could arrange for a local birding expert to accompany us on this Daintree River cruise. Sunrise, sunset cruising also available***
The Daintree Tea House was established in 1980 and has been serving lovely lunches and afternoon teas to visiting guests ever since.
The tea house is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and has many wildlife visitors throughout the day and as you sit here will be able to enjoy hearing a cacophony of sounds coming from the gardens and rainforest surrounds.
The chef’s specialty here is the famous fish of Tropical North Queensland the Barramundi which is a white flesh fish with a very soft texture and a very mild taste which goes perfect with fat chips and a side salad.
An exotic tropical fruit presentation is often a part of the service.
Taste the locally grown Daintree tea to finish off your luncheon.
Mossman Gorge is a place where you can go and relax, sit by the beautiful gorge river and just listen to the river flowing thru the boulders and the sounds of the busy rainforest.
This is the ancestral home of the Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people who have lived here for over 50,000 years. To the Kuku Yalanji people today, the concept of nature and culture being inextricably bound continues.
The eco tourism centre here is managed by the Indigenous Land Corporation and Mossman Gorge Aboriginal Community and offers a café and souvenir shop.
Optional: If your group has a special interest in learning more about the oldest living culture in the world today and would like to spend time with an Aboriginal guide who will provide a spirit cleansing ceremony, a walk thru their ancestral rainforest and teach you about it’s foods and medicines please just ask for a quote for your specialised group tour.
Mossman Gorge has multiple trails for our guides to share and interpret for you and there is a 4.5 kilometre walking track for the adventurous and again here we have some more time to swim and relax in the fresh mountain water.
We have Wet Tropics Certification and Savannah Guide Certification
We are monthly supporters of Bush Heritage Australia and Volunteers for Tropical North Queensland Wildlife Rescue
