Travel Tips: Scuba Diving - Helmet Diving - Seawalker - Scuba Doo

Scuba Diving Great Barrier Reef

For all underwater activities on the Great Barrier Reef where you will be submerged with equipment such as a breathing apparatus you will be required to firstly fill out a Medical Questionnaire to ensure you are physically fit enough to be able to swim and withstand the underwater pressure on your body and organs.

This medical questionnaire ensures not only your safety but also the safety of the other scuba divers that are enjoying the experience of diving the Great Barrier Reef.

Scuba regulations in Australia allow children to try an Introductory Scuba Dive at 12 years of age with their parents/guardians consent and they are also to be accompanied by the parents.

For uncertified scuba divers over the age of 55 some cruise operators may ask you for a current Dive Medical certificate from you doctor especially if you are considered obese or a potential health risk.

Scuba diving regulations in Australia are recognised as having the highest safety standards and all Medical Certifications are required to the Dive Medical Australian Standard AS4005.1

If you have an overseas scuba diving certification that may not be to the Australian Standard we recommend you visit a specialist Dive doctor in Cairns prior to booking your Great Barrier Reef Scuba diving adventure with us.

If you wish to try an exciting underwater adventure on Scuba Doo the underwater motorcycle you will be required to undertake this Medical Questionnaire also and the same applies to Helmet diving alsoHelmet Diving is an additional option on all the Pontoon Day Trips and Green Island day trip and should be pre-booked to avoid dissapointment.

PADI Scuba Diving Certification is known and recognised as one of the best in the worldAnswering "Yes" to any questions in the Dive Medical questionnare may restrict you from completing the activity & medial clearance from a doctor may be required.
