Guided Daintree Rainforest Tours
With an experienced and dedicated team of personal guides and drivers this Daintree Rainforest tour offers its guests modern and comfortable air-conditioned coach transportation.
Pick-ups commence at around 7.30am from Cairns accommodation and 8.15am from Port Douglas accommodation. On return, Port Douglas guests are dropped off at their accommodation at 6.30pm and Cairns guests are dropped off at 7.30pm.
Scenic Coastal Drive
Start your journey from Cairns and travel along one of the most enchanting scenic coastal drives in the world. You will travel from Cairns to Port Douglas with the reef on one side and the lush, wet tropics rainforest on the other so no matter which side of the coach you sit on you will have terrific views.
Our tip is to sit on the right side of the coach facing the front window of the coach and make sure you have your camera and video ready for action!
Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas including Breakfast with the Birds
At around 8.45am you will arrive at the Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat where you will indulge a delicious tropical breakfast with an array of exotic birds. Here, you will feast your taste buds on a yummy buffet consisting of, eggs, bacon, sausages and hash browns, as well as exotic fruit platters, pastries, cereals, breads, juices, and tea and coffee.
While you enjoy breakfast you will have the privilege to meet, hold and even feed a variety of iconic birds, including; the sulphur-crested cockatoo, yellow-tailed black cockatoo, the eclectus parrot, the tawny frogmouth and many more.
From here you can join a guided tour and see the highly endangered Cassowary, also known as the dinosaur of the rainforest, along with many other wildlife species. You will have the opportunity to have your photo taken holding one of the incredible birds, a koala, snake or even a crocodile – ‘crikey!’ (Extra cost).
Daintree Rainforest Tour - Cable Driven Ferry
You will then be taken north past sugar cane crops and rolling rainforest hills before crossing the wild Daintree River at around 11am on the cable-driven ferry.
Travel along the rainforest-fringed Cape Tribulation Road through Daintree rainforest National Park, a magnificent wilderness region – known as the oldest rainforest in the world, whilst your tour guide is providing commentary along the way to totally immerse your mind in the history and interesting facts about the region.
Tropical Lunch
Around 12.15pm you will arrive at Cape Tribulation Beach House for a lovely tropical lunch amongst the Daintree rainforest trees. From here you have free time for a refreshing swim or a walk along the spectacular Cape Tribulation Beach.
This is the only place in the world where the Great Barrier Reef meets the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest on the shore-line, not only unique but incredibly beautiful. Keep an eye out for roving rainforest inhabitants like the Cassowary, Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos and lots of other little creatures.
Cape Tribulation Beach & Guided Rainforest Walk
At 1.30pm you will depart Cape Tribulation Beach House and visit Cape Tribulation Beach for a guided rainforest walk along the Boardwalk to the lookout for some fantastic photo opportunities. The aqua blue’s and the forest greens are very photogenic along this renowned stretch.
Alexandra Lookout
At 3.35pm you will take a break from the drive through the stunning rainforest tunnel and stop at Alexandra’s Lookout for magnificent views of the mouth of the Daintree River opening out to the Great Barrier Reef. Get your cameras ready this is certainly the place for some amazing panoramic landscape shots.
Daintree River Cruise
By 4pm the tour departs the north side of river to embark on the Daintree River Cruise. Climb aboard the little vessel and see some of Australia’s largest saltwater crocodiles in their native habitat, along with many native birds and other wildlife species as you journey through the mangroves and down the windy river.
The commentary on-board is incredibly educational and informative all of which is told by the local guides.
