Cooktown Tours – Private Charter Fly/Drive Tour
Early in the morning we begin to collect our private charter tour guests from the hotels in Cairns and the northern beaches and begin preparations for our early morning low level scenic flight towards Cooktown along the picturesque Great Barrier Reef coastline.
This epic coastline hugs two World Heritage listed areas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest and we can sit back and enjoy the views before we arrive at our destination the seaside town of Cooktown.
On our private charter Cooktown tours we place emphasis on our small group tours being informative and educational.
You will learn about the indigenous Aboriginal culture, stories about the local pioneers the history of the arrival of Captain James Cook and his ship Endeavour coming into Cooktown and more.
Our first tour adventure is to drive to the Cairns General Aviation for our low level flight to Cooktown in the early morning and settle in for our scenic flight.
Our Cooktown flight takes us up over the Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforests which are the oldest living rainforests in the world today and home to the world’s oldest living culture, the Aboriginals.
Scientists are still discovering plants and animals in these forests that are not found anywhere else in the world, they also say that these rainforests are the key to the future survival of the human species.
Our Cooktown scenic flight continues north and our tour guide in Cooktown will meet your incoming flight and take you along to the first iconic point of the day Grassy Hill, where we enjoy panoramic views over Cooktown, the Coral Sea and Endeavour River.
Explore Cooktown with a Tour Guide
Next up is a tour of the township of Cooktown and a guided walk on the esplanade where our tour guide will point out many points of interest before giving you some free time to yourself
Enjoy the stunning scenery and experience the present day appeal and intriguing heritage of this iconic town.
We all then meet up again and make our way to the famous Cooktown cemetery where your tour guide will tell you stories of the souls that rest here.
It's then onto the James Cook Museum for a guided tour where we will see an original anchor and cannon from Captain Cooks HMB Endeavour amongst many other interesting artifacts.
The Cooktown Botanic Gardens are one of Queensland's oldest regional botanic gardens and you will find many of the same plants collected by botanists, Sir Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander as well as plants traditionally used by the local Aboriginal people.
It's then time to relax at Nature's Powerhouse cafe, art gallery and Visitor information Centre
