Some species that you can expect to see and even have land on you are the iconic Kuranda Butterfly – The Blue Ulysses Butterfly and the fluorescent green and yellow Cairns Birdwing.
The aviary is a rainforest setting, kept warm and humid with a flowing stream and many tropical plants all suited for the butterflies.
Explore the laboratory, also known as the engine room and learn about the fascinating breeding techniques, along with many other interesting facts about these delicate and beautiful species.
Every half an hour a guided tour takes place and visitors receive a free fact sheet that is available in most languages.
