Port Douglas 2 in 1 Reef Trip | Low Isles & Mossman Gorge | Combo Tour | SADISC
Start your day at beautiful Mossman Gorge where you will join a local Indigenous guide on a 1.5 hour 'Dreamtime Walk' through the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest.
See significant cultural sights and learn how the rainforest has supported the Kuku Yalanji people for over 10,000 years, plus enjoy a traditional 'damper' bread and bush tea.
Marvel at the huge diversity of life within the rainforest; from tiny delicate ferns to giant fig trees covered in colourful fruit, from beautiful groves of fan palms to huge twisted vines hanging from way up in the tree tops.
After experiencing the wonders of the Daintree Rainforest, hop in a transfer shuttle for the ride to the Port Douglas marina where you will board a luxury French-built Lagoon 500 sailing catamaran for the journey out to the reef.
Once arrived at Low Isles, grab some snorkel gear and jump into the clear blue water to explore the reef.
Learn the history of the island on a guided heritage walk or see the reef from the comfort of a glass-bottom boat, plus much more.
Kick back and relax on the sail home, enjoying delicious canapes and a complimentary drink as the sun sets.
The Daintree Rainforest
The World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest is the oldest continually surviving rainforest on Earth and is one of the most diverse ecosystems in Australia and in the World, covering over 1,200 square kilometers in Tropical Far North Queensland.
Comprising just 0.1 per cent of Australia's land mass, this amazing environment is home to roughly 90 per cent of the country's bat and butterfly species, roughly 7 per cent of bird species, 3 percent of frog, reptile and marsupial species plus over 12,000 different species of insects!
Walk through the forest and marvel at the incredible diversity of plant and animal species, plus learn how the local Kuku Yalanji people have thrived in and protected the forest for thousands of years.
Mossman Gorge
Mossman Gorge is one of the most popular destinations within the Daintree Rainforest, famous for it's beautiful crystal clear water and huge mossy boulders that rest in the river bed.
This area is also home to the Mossman Gorge Centre, a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated visitor centre where guests can enjoy delicious food made with local ingredients, view and purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts, plus enjoy a true cultural experience on a Dreamtime Walk through the rainforest led by a local guide.
On the guided Dreamtime Walk you will learn about the medicinal, practical and food uses for different rainforest plants, see special cultural sites, taste some bush tucker (food) and gain a far greater appreciation for this incredible ecosystem and the very special relationship local Aboriginal people have with the forest.
Enjoy bush tea and freshly made damper bread as part of the guided Dreamtime Walk.
Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef
First discovered by Captain Cook in 1770, Low Isles is situated approximately 14 kilometers North-East of Port Douglas in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and is comprised of two islands; Low Island and Woody Island.
Low Island is a vegetated coral sand cay and for most people is the picture perfect tropical island – white sand beaches, coconut palms swaying in the breeze, topped with rainforest and fringed by a colourful coral reef, with a red and white lighthouse to really complete the picture.
Between the two islands is a sheltered lagoon with calm water that is perfect for snorkelling. Lucky guests have the chance to spot a wide array of hard and soft corals, many different species of brightly coloured fish both big and small, friendly sea turtles, giant clams and much more.
Guests can also enjoy a guided heritage walk and learn about the important scientific and maritime history of this tiny island, spot some of the migratory birds that call the island home or see the reef in a different way on a glass-bottom boat tour.
Sunset Sailing
After enjoying a day of discovery in the rainforest and the reef, the sail home from Low Isles is the perfect way to relax and end your day out in paradise.
Watch the sky transform into a mosaic of orange and pink hues that dance across the water as the sun slowly sets behind the mountains of the Daintree Rainforest.
Enjoy a complimentary drink and delicious canapes as you cruise home on board the luxury catamaran that offers a first class sailing experience.
You'll be left feeling calm and relaxed when you return to Port Douglas around 6:30pm (approx).
