Seawalker Helmet Diving On Green Island - Amazing
Seawalker helmet diving on the Great Barrier Reef just off Cairns is a fun and easy way to witness the huge variety of fish life and corals in their natural habitat around Green Island without even getting your hair wet or having to remove your glasses.
*****To participate in Seawalker Helmet Walking you MUST pre-book your return ferry boat cruise to take you to Green Island with Great Adventures so you may experience Seawalker.
****These are two separate tours that need to be booked to coincide with each other.
No scuba diving experience is required, you just need to fill out a medical questionnaire and be over the age of 12 years old.
You can also be a non-swimmer too! Seawalker tours are for everyone to enjoy the underwater world experience in a totally unique way on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Taking no more than 60 minutes to complete your Seawalker experience, you will have plenty of time to snorkel, join a glass bottom boat tour and explore this beautiful and unique tropical island.
Let your professional Seawalker guide lead you along the sandy seabed through massive schools of fish, have the moment captured by the on-site photographer and keep an eye out for Gavin the photobombing parrotfish he’s a bit of a celebrity in these parts.
Getting to Green Island for your Seawalker Helmet Walking Experience
There are a number of half and full day departure times to choose from to make it flexible for you.
Check in is at the Cairns Marlin Marina Reef Fleet Terminal in Spence Street 30 to 45 minutes before departure on your fast catamaran transfer to Green Island.
Your Seawalker crew members will meet you either aboard your ferry boat transfer vessel (you will see their uniforms) or at the Seawalker counter located on the island to assist you with your underwater adventure.
Going Underwater with Seawalker on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia
After an informative guest briefing and filling out of the medical questionnaire, your Seawalker team will accompany you to the shallow clear waters of Green Island’s beach to take a small shuttle boat out to the anchored Seawalker Australian Support Diving Vessel located just 3 minutes offshore.
Look out for Green Turtles surfacing for a breath or the fins of small black tip or white tip reef shark pups (they don’t like humans) and rays circling the bait balls during your ride out.
On arrival your friendly crew will assist you with donning your helmet, weight belt and simply climbing down a ladder 4 – 5 metres to the sea floor. Once your feet are planted firmly on the soft sand stroll through the hundreds of bright coloured fish including the vibrant parrotfish, surgeon fish and fusiliers that swim so close you could touch them.
Seawalker’s anchored vessel has been positioned right next to coral reef ensuring you enjoy all the Great Barrier Reef has to offer during your 15-20 minute underwater experience.
A professional underwater photographer will be on hand to capture your memories and you can view them afterwards at the Seawalker office on the island.
Seawalker Guests
You do not need any prior experience to join this fantastic activity under the sea. Non- swimmers and swimmers alike can enjoy the Seawalker adventure, a great way to gain confidence in the water with a highly trained guide by your side at all times.
The helmet keeps your hair and face completely dry allowing guests to wear glasses or contacts during the underwater walk.
A short medical questionnaire will need to be completed before your Seawalker experience as there are some conditions that may exclude you from the activity.
Please contact a Tour Specialist for further information. Children over 12 years may participate in the Seawalker activity.
...And more excitment
If you thought doing Seawalker was exciting then we highly recommend you go to the Outer Barrier Reef with Great Adventures cruises and have a go on the under water scooters called Scuba Doo.
Again this is a perfect activity if you are a non-swimmer or a non-scuba diver but wish to see the reef from under the water’s surface just like the fish do.
Please note there are only 9 spaces available each day so you must pre-book your Scuba Doo when you book your Great Adventures reef tour.
