Setting sail with only 25 guests our 16m schooner sails daily from Cairns to an exclusive mooring on Pinnacle Reef just 1km off Green island.

You get to experience a small personalised sailing trip where you get to snorkel and scuba dive this private Great Barrier Reef site with no other boats or people in sight.

This is a great sailing boat for the ultimate in relaxation and you can even have a turn at steering to try and get those sails moving in the wind.

Take a ride in the yachts tender over to explore Green Island and then come back to your private snorkel and diving location to see the best part of the reef that is teeming with colourful corals and marine life.

A very intimate sailing tour from Cairns that only accommodates small groups of only 25 guests. On board you will be able to learn to scuba dive or snorkel without being hurried and have lots of fun with a very dedicated and energetic crew.

Just off the boat view the "bommies" (coral outcrops) which come to just 1m under the surface — great for snorkelling!

View a beautiful coral garden — lots of different colours, staghorn, boulder coral and soft corals.

Many species of reef fish, sea-cucumbers and giant clams. Turtles and black-tipped reef sharks (totally harmless and very timid!) are a common sight.

Humpback Whales also love to spend time around here from July to September (sightings not guaranteed) and they are a spectacular sight when they breach (jump playfully out of the water) they are very gentle inquisitive creatures.

Dive the pretty coral garden and Pinnacle Reef (10-12M depth depending on the tide) with an experienced dive crew.

They offer 1:2 instructor to diver ratio with confident divers or for your very first dive (most boats offer 1:4). The certified divers get a free guide to show you the best parts of this spectacular reef!

Cairns Sailing Tours - Scuba Diving

If it's a personalised introduction to scuba diving you are after then jump on board with us as we love nothing better that teaching newbies how to enjoy the underwater world with us.

We take it nice, slow and easy for you to understand all of the safety requirements and signals. We are sure you will come back to the surface and the first thing that will come from your mouth will be just "WOW let's do it again".

For qualified scuba divers you will really love Pinnacle Reef as it is deep water which is cool and has brilliant colourful corals and bommies and walls to explore and the other bonus is... not many other guests on board to worry about - just you, your buddies and your dive masters

Please note, you must pre book your dives when you book your tour to ensure you do not miss out as spots are limited.

Green Island Great Barrier Reef Tours

Board the tender (motorised boat) to go across to Green Island for one hour, the rest of the afternoon or the whole time if you prefer — the choice is totally yours. That is the flexibility offered by this tour.

On Green Island walk around the tropical island (tide permitting) or along the interpretive boardwalk through the island, laze on the beach, visit Marineland Melanesia (see the huge crocs in captivity and the giant sea turtles - entrance fee to be payed at door), swim in the crystal clear waters, watch the sea-birds diving for food.

Cairns Sailing Tours - Optional Extras

If you are a non-swimmer and would like to experience the Great Barrier Reef without getting wet, this tour also offers guests the option to enjoy a glass bottom boat and/or a semi-submersible tour.

Please note both tours are at an additional cost payable direct to the operator on the day of travel.

For your convenience there is a fully licensed bar on board serving soft drinks, beer, wines & bottled water (please note alcohol consumption is only allowed once all water activities are completed).

We can also organise your return transfers from your accommodation in Cairns or on the Northern Beaches - must be pre booked

Time To Head Home

Over 4 and ½ hours to play- plenty of time to snorkel, dive, relax and visit the island, have a look at the shops, relax and have a cappuccino! On the awesome sail home be treated to platters of fruit, cheese and crackers, and selected cake while sipping on a cold glass of wine.

Return to the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns around 5:00 - 5:15pm (wind dependant).

Scuba Diving Restrictions

• Certain medical conditions and medications may preclude some people from scuba diving.
• Participation is subject to a medical questionnaire completed on board with the tour operator
• Minimum age for scuba diving is 12 years.
• Flying after scuba diving: a wait of 12 hours is recommended after one dive, 18 hour after 2 dives and at least 24 hours after multiple dives, before ascending to an altitude of 300 metres or greater.
