Your journey begins around 8:00 AM from Cairns with a confirmed pickup time upon booking.

Kuranda Village

Nestled in the heart of the rainforest, Kuranda Village offers a variety of sightseeing, wildlife, and culinary attractions. Enjoy some free time to explore the vibrant Kuranda markets, scenic walks, and unique shops. Afterward, a coach will transfer you to Rainforestation. Rainforestation Nature Park - Kuranda

Rainforestation Nature Park spans 100 acres of lush rainforest, offering a hands-on opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area. Key attractions include:

• Army Duck Tour: Explore both land and water aboard an amphibious army duck. Learn about local flora like strangler figs, stinging trees, orchids, and ferns, and spot native wildlife such as the Azure kingfisher.
• Pamajirri Aboriginal Experience: Watch indigenous Aboriginal dancers perform a corroboree, depicting native culture through stories of animals, hunting, and food gathering, all set against the backdrop of the rainforest.
• Dreamtime Walk: Join a guided walk to learn about the legend of the Rainbow Serpent, try boomerang throwing, and experience didgeridoo playing and spear hunting demonstrations with Aboriginals.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

After exploring Rainforestation, board the bus to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. This eco-friendly tour will take you in a gondola over the rainforest canopy, providing spectacular views of Cairns, the rainforest, and the Great Barrier Reef. The Skyrail journey includes two stop-off points:

• Barron Falls Station: Explore the rainforest interpretation centre and take in stunning views of Barron Falls.
• Red Peak Station: Enjoy a guided boardwalk tour, learning about the diverse flora and fauna of the rainforest.

Australian Butterfly Sanctuary

To complete your Kuranda experience why not pay a visit to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary

The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is situated in the heart of Kuranda Village and offers a unique close-up experience with butterflies. The butterfly sanctuary was opened in 1987 and operates as an all-weather activity. Guided tours are conducted every 15 minutes where you will learn all the fascinating aspects of the butterfly life cycle and behaviour.

Return to Cairns

After a 1.5-hour descent on Skyrail, arrive back in Cairns where your bus will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will be undergoing an extensive upgrade from 20th July to 25th October 2026 (inclusive); this upgrade will take place into two stages.

Stage #1 - 20th July to 18th August 2026 - During this stage this tour will not be operating.

Stage #2 - 19th August to 25th October 2026 - During this stage this tour will be operating 5 days a week (Wednesday to Sunday) and following a modified itinerary:
During this time, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will operate a loop experience between Kuranda Terminal and Barron Falls. To ensure guests continue to enjoy an exceptional experience, Tropic Wings will also provide additional value: Kuranda Deluxe with Skyrail (CKS tour) will receive complimentary entry to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
Kuranda Deluxe with Skyrail and Butterflies (CKSB tours) will have the choice of a complimentary Army Duck OR Pamagirri Boomerang Souvenir Photo.

This project aims to replace the existing cableway infrastructure and all gondolas, improving the accessibility of Skyrail, as well as providing a quieter, smoother, and enhanced rainforest experience for our guests.
