What to Expect

Enjoy a scenic flight like no other and create memories that will last a lifetime. Watch the Gold Coast come to life from above on a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the coastline or Hinterland, guided by the morning wind direction. Flights operate throughout the year, making this one of the few destinations worldwide where hot air ballooning is available in every season.

Your day starts before dawn with complimentary transfers from central Gold Coast hotels. After meeting your pilot and crew, you’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing and complete the necessary documentation before travelling to the selected launch site.

We have safety briefing card available in three languages: english, japanese and mandarin.

Once the balloon is inflated, step into Australia’s only walk-in basket, the only one in the Southern Hemisphere, purpose-built with easy-access doors for smooth boarding and landing; you won't have to climb over to get into the basket. Once airborne, enjoy 40 to 60 minutes in flight, averaging around 45 minutes, with the full experience running approximately four hours from 4:00am to 8:00am. This experience falls under the 'half day' tour category as it allows you to fit more tours/activites in a day; half day tour are becoming more and more popular have we have a lot to choose from.

From treetop level to heights of up to 7,500 feet, your altitude will vary according to the conditions. Along the way, the pilot provides informative commentary, highlighting coastal landmarks, canal systems and the lush hinterland ranges. The changing sunrise light delivers exceptional photo opportunities, and a digital image package is included.

Flights operate at sunrise due to the calm, stable air conditions typical at this time of day. Ballooning is widely regarded as one of Australia’s safest aviation activities and is conducted under the strict regulations of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. If weather conditions are unsuitable, flights are rescheduled, with rebooking available within 12 months. Flight confirmation is provided the evening prior at approximately 7:00pm.

No more to do... once you land you don't have to help with packing-down. A specialised 4WD vehicle equipped with a 1,100kg crane manages retrieval, reducing ground time by around 30 minutes. The World’s Largest Pink Hot Air Balloon

This experience is home to the world’s largest pink hot air balloon, flown in support of breast cancer awareness initiatives. The distinctive balloon has become an icon of sunrise flights on the Gold Coast, combining aviation with purpose and community contribution.

4.00am - Meet our team at the 5 star Sheraton Grand Mirage or we can pick you up from most Gold Coast accommodation providers

4.15am - Transfer in our air-conditioned coach to one of our 100+ launch sites; launch sites are chose on the day depending on the weather conditions

5.00am - Time to inflate the balloon

5.30am - Ready? We are taking off!

6.30am - Prepare for landing after a 40 to 60 minute flight it is time to touch down

7.00am - If the conditions are favorable you might be able to walk inside the baloon - great photo oppotunities! 

8.00am - Transfer back to the Sheraton Grand Mirage to enjoy a scrumptious buffet breakfast or be dropped back to your accommodation
