Your wildlife spotting river cruise tour starts at 1pm with a pick up from your Port Douglas accommodation. You will take a scenic drive up north along the coast and head towards the Daintree River. Here you will have the best chance to spot the modern day dinosaurs- Estuarine Crocodiles also known as salties. The Daintree River is full of these ferocious creatures and with a little help from your local tour guide you are almost certain to spot a few. Many tropical birds, pythons, lizards and butterflies also inhabit in this area and if you are lucky you may even come across the endangered flightless bird the Cassowary otherwise known as the gardener of the rainforests.
After an informative Daintree River cruise, you will head to the Mossman Gorge Visitor Centre to sample Wattleseed Damper accompanied by local Mungalli cream, honey and Rosella jam. Your drinks choice will include coffee, tea, milkshakes and soft drinks. All this great edible goodness is brought to you straight from the Atherton Tablelands mountains outside Port Douglas.
Once you have enjoyed the afternoon tea, you will take a guided tour into the heart of Mossman Gorge where you will see some of the oldest and most beautiful parts of the Daintree Rainforest. Mossman Gorge is the southern part of the World Heritage Listed Daintree rainforest and also known to be culturally significant to local Aboriginal people. Your tour guide will take you on an amazing interpretive walk through this lush rainforest where you will also have time for a refreshing dip in the crystal clear rainforest stream if you wish. You will be taken back to your Port Douglas accommodation by 5.40pm.
