Join Far North Queensland’s oldest coach operator on this full day outing on a Daintree Rainforest tour to explore the oldest living rainforest in the world today, the Daintree Rainforest.
Explore the world's oldest living rainforest on an immersive full-day tour to the Daintree Rainforest, departing from Cairns, Palm Cove, and Port Douglas. This rainforest tour offers a unique opportunity to discover the natural wonders and rich cultural heritage of this World Heritage-listed site, home to rare and endangered wildlife and ancient Aboriginal stories.
Your adventure begins with a convenient early morning pick-up from your accommodation, starting around 7:15 AM in Cairns and 7:45 AM in Palm Cove. As you travel in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle, you'll enjoy breathtaking views along the famous Great Barrier Reef Drive, one of Australia’s most scenic coastal routes.
After gathering all guests in Port Douglas by 8:15 AM, the first stop of the day is the Wildlife Habitat, a premier Australian wildlife experience. Here, a knowledgeable guide will lead you through one of three distinct ecosystems: the wetlands, rainforest, or grasslands. As you wander the elevated boardwalks, you’ll have the chance to observe native birdlife and encounter some of Australia’s rarest species, such as the Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo and the endangered Southern Cassowary. You'll also have the opportunity to feed kangaroos, and for an additional cost, you can have your photo taken with a baby crocodile, python, or koala.
After enjoying morning tea, the journey continues north. The tour crosses the Daintree River on a cable-driven ferry, a gateway to the untouched wilderness of the Daintree Rainforest. Your next stop is the Alexandra Lookout, offering panoramic views over the Daintree River and the Coral Sea. This area is uniquely significant as it is the meeting point of two World Heritage sites—the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
The tour then heads deeper into the rainforest, where you’ll stop for a tropical lunch in a picturesque setting. Following lunch, you’ll arrive at Cape Tribulation, where you can explore the famous beach or take a stroll along the boardwalks to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes. A guided rainforest walk will provide insights into the complex ecosystem of the Daintree, offering fantastic photo opportunities and a deeper understanding of this ancient forest.
One of the highlights of the tour is the Daintree River Wildlife Cruise. After crossing the river by ferry, you’ll board a boat for a close-up encounter with the wildlife that inhabits the river. Your experienced guide will help you spot elusive crocodiles, tree snakes, waterbirds hidden in the mangroves, and freshwater turtles. This cruise offers a unique perspective on the rich biodiversity of the Daintree and is a must-do for nature enthusiasts.
The tour concludes with a return journey to your original pick-up location, arriving in Port Douglas around 6:00 PM, Palm Cove by 6:30 PM, and Cairns by 7:00 PM.
This Daintree Rainforest tour offers a comprehensive exploration of one of the world’s most ancient and ecologically significant areas. From wildlife encounters to scenic walks and river cruises, this tour provides an unforgettable experience of Queensland’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
