Departing from Cairns in the afternoon, we return late in the evening, accommodating groups of up to 7 guests to maintain a personalised experience.

Included in your special interest private charter Daintree Rainforest tour is a river cruise on the Daintree River and a night walk in the Daintree Rainforest, where you can observe nocturnal wildlife as they become active at sunset.

Private Charter Daintree Rainforest Tour Itinerary

12:00pm – Pickup in Cairns
  • Your special interest nature and wildlife rainforest tour begins with a scenic coastal drive along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, heading north toward the Daintree Tropical Rainforest. Observe the changing habitat diversity as we approach our destination.
2:15pm – Solar Whisper Wildlife Cruise
  • Experience a one-hour wildlife spotting journey on the Daintree River aboard a quiet, clean solar electric boat with zero environmental impact. Get closer to nature without noise and fumes. Enjoy afternoon tea before departure. With a 99% success rate for spotting crocodiles, it's also an excellent spot for bird watching and observing other wildlife like snakes, frogs, fish, and bats.
4:00pm – Daintree Rainforest
  • Enter the lands of the local Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people and marvel at the pristine rainforest, crystal clear streams, towering mountains, and freshwater valleys. This area spans 120,000 hectares, making it the largest tropical rainforest in Australia and the oldest living rainforest on the planet. Traverse several tracks to witness the complex ecosystems within this World Heritage site. If time and weather permit, enjoy a refreshing swim during the summer months.
5:00pm – Cape Tribulation Beach
  • From various lookouts, witness the stunning afternoon light over Cape Tribulation Beach. Spend an hour exploring this natural beauty, surrounded by a semi-circle of mountains, including Mt Sorrow (850m) and Mt Hemmant (1000m).
6:00pm – Dinner at Whet Restaurant
  • Dine at Whet Restaurant, located in the heart of Cape Tribulation. Enjoy the unique and casual atmosphere, combining natural rainforest surroundings and sounds  with a delicious range of cuisine.
7:00pm – Night Spotting in the Northern Daintree Rainforest
  • Experience a unique night walk in the Daintree Rainforest, where many local native Australian wildlife species become more active. This nocturnal lifestyle helps them avoid the tropical heat of the day, making them easier to spot.
8:00pm – Depart Daintree Rainforest
  • Relax in the comfort of our modern vehicles as we journey back home. We return across the Daintree River on the Cable Ferry, arriving back at your accommodation. You'll have plenty of photos to review from this unforgettable day.

Itinerary

12:00pm – Pickup in Cairns
Travel to the Daintree Rainforest is via a scenic coastal route that heads North along the famous Great Barrier Reef Drive.
Along the way you will see changes in the habitat diversity as we get closer to the Daintree Tropical Rainforest, our destination.

2:15pm – Arrive at Solar Whisper Wildlife Cruise
Here we will take you on a river journey along the beautiful Daintree River where we do our first lot of wildlife spotting.
This is a 1 hr experience on a quiet, clean solar electric boat with zero environmental impact. 
Get closer to nature... hear, smell & experience without noise & fumes.
Afternoon tea included prior departure.
We have a 99% success rate for spotting crocodiles, it is also a great location for bird watching opportunities and other wildlife such as snakes, frogs, fish and bats.

4:00pm – Daintree Rainforest
Here we enter the lands of the local Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people while taking in the beauty of the pristine rainforest, crystal clear streams, towering mountains and freshwater valleys that are an amazing sight to see.
This area of tropical rainforest spans 120,000 hectares, making it the largest tropical rainforest in Australia.

And if time and weather permits, we will take a refreshing swim during the summer months.

5:00pm – Cape Tribulation Beach

From several lookouts, we will have you witness the afternoon lighting over the beach, which is spectacular at this time of day.  
We usually spend an hour exploring the natural beauty of this coastline.
All from a valley that resembles a giant amphitheatre with a semi-circle of mountains featuring the magnificent Mt Sorrow (850m) and Mt Hemmant (1000m).

6:00pm – Dinner at Whet Restaurant

Whet Restaurant combines the natural surrounds of the rainforest with its unique and casual atmosphere. 
It is located right in the heart of Cape Tribulation, and aptly named to “whet your appetite”, the delicious range of cuisine on offer at Whet Restaurant combined with its rainforest ambience is sure to please.

7:00pm Night spotting in the Northern Daintree Rainforest
A night walk in the rainforest is truly a unique experience.
Quite different to an experience during the day.
As many of the local native Australian wildlife has adopted a nocturnal lifestyle to avoid to heat of the day in the tropical climate.
Therefore more active and easier to spot.

8:00pm – Depart Daintree Rainforest

This is the time to relax in the comfort of our modern vehicles for the journey back home.
We return across the Daintree River on the Cable Ferry, where you will get back to your accommodation ready to browse through the photos of your day.
We can assure you will have plenty of photos to go through with all the photo opportunities presented on our day.

In every instance we always recommend you purchase travel insurance for life’s last-minute hiccups.

Operators policy:

For cancellations made to Private or Group tours, the following penalties apply:

  • i. Cancellations received more than 30 days prior to departure – no fee applicable.
  • ii. Cancellations received less than 30 days but more than 7 days prior to departure – 25% fee applicable.
  • iii. Cancellations received less than 7 days but more than 48 hours prior to departure – 50% fee applicable.
  • iv. Cancellations received less than 48 hours or for non-appearance to commence the tour – all monies will be forfeited

FORCE MAJEURE
Force Majeure means (without restriction) any event which FNQ Nature Tours could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire, floods and all similar events beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure FNQ Nature Tours will not accept liability, and reserves the right to change and cancel trips.

If a Force Majeure circumstance necessitates cancellation of the tour then:
i. The traveller must rely upon any travel insurance they hold for compensation; and
ii. Where possible, FNQ Nature Tours will substitute an itinerary with similar experiences.
