Socialising on our Port Douglas Charter Yacht

• The charter yachts saloon is very comfortable and spacious with seating for up to as many as 20 plus persons, making it a great sizeable chill out area for our 6 liveaboard guests to enjoy meals, music, and movies on the 42 inch flat screen.
• The Yacht is fully carpeted with non-skid rubber flooring where needed. There is plenty of room on the decks for relaxing and watching the world sail by.
• Excellent meals are freshly prepared on board by our chef with a focus on specialising in fine seafarers cuisine. Some samples to tantalize your tastebuds are appetizers of fresh seafood with a chilled papaya salad, followed by a tuna curry, chilli mud crab or a grilled crayfish. Top off that delicious meal with fresh tropical fruits, homemade ice cream or crepe suzettes.

Great Barrier Reef Private Yacht Charter - 2 DAY SAIL OPTION 1

Day 1.)

• Depart from Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina at Port Douglas and head to Opal Reef, 28 nm , 4 hours one way. We set the anchor to overnight at Opal Reef and enjoy a beautiful coral garden directly on the aft of the Yacht. Guests are then invited by our in water boat crew to join them on a snorkel tour to explore the nearby coral reefs. We take the yachts tender and do some drift snorkelling along some stunning walls and reef passes. For those who are looking for a bit more activity you can also stand up paddle board and try your luck at fishing. As your first evening approaches watch the sun as it sets and the puts on a display of a kaleidoscope of colours. Our on-board chef will be busy in the boats galley preparing a delicious meal cooked to your liking and personal requests.

Day 2.)

• After breakfast we visit another location SNO on the north side of Opal Reef and do another couple of drift snorkels. We then up anchor and sail to another coral reef and whilst underway we will do some trawling to see if we can catch some nice fish. After a tasty lunch we begin our tranquil sail back to our home Port of the Crystalbrook Super Yacht Marina in Port Douglas.

Great Barrier Reef Private Yacht Charter 2 DAY SAIL OPTION 2

Day 1.)

• Port Douglas to Low Isles and Tongue Reef , 8 nm , 1 hour to Low Isles then Tongue Reef another hours sailing time ( 18nm from Port ) . Day one can be spent either sailing directly to Tongue Reef (2 hours and spend the day snorkeling and enjoying the area. Then we would sail back to Low Isles for the afternoon and evening to spend the night on anchor around this group of islands. Low Isles is a beautiful anchorage with a tropical island and historic Light house. There are many options at the Island from walks, Stand up Paddling and snorkelling. Low Island is a popular spot for day boats to visit from Port Douglas between 10am and 3pm. Outside of these hours we are most likely to be the only liveaboard private charter boat at anchor.

Day 2.)

• Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and enjoy a delicious breakfast in the peace and serenity of the quite lagoon around Low Isles. Then spend the day exploring the island and snorkelling in the lagoons with the turtles that are well known to frequent this group of Islands. In the late afternoon we then hoist the sails and make our way back to the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina in Port Douglas.   

Great Barrier Reef Private Yacht Charter 3 DAY SAIL Example

Day 1.)

• Port Douglas to Opal Reef, 28 nm, 4 hours one way. After anchoring the boat at Opal Reef and getting settled we then spend the afternoon exploring the nearby coral reefs. Drift snorkelling is great here as we will see some stunning walls and reef passes. For those looking for other in-water activities you may use the stand-up paddle boards or go and try your luck at fishing. In the late afternoon the show begins in the sky as the sun sets over the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest clad mountains. The chef will be below in the galley preparing a delicious meal cooked to your liking. Once you are all settled in your cabins you can relax whilst the gentle currents rock the boat and you fall into a deep sleep.

Day 2.)

• After a beautiful sunrise and a hearty breakfast we set sail to visit another coral reef location SNO on the north side of Opal Reef and enjoy another couple of drift snorkels. From Opal Reef we travel to Agincourt Ribbon Reef, 12nm, 1.5 hours. For a bit of fun we can do some trawling between Sno and Agincourt then enjoy the chef prepared luncheon once we arrive and set the anchor. Agincourt Ribbon Reef has many locations well worth visiting and we will spend the afternoon drift snorkelling the top and bottom of Agincourt Ribbon Reef # 1. Trigerfish point is a great drift on the incoming tide where we end up starting out on the pass and finish up in the shallows at least 1000 to 2000 mt away.  Whaler is another great drift on the southern end of Agincourt # 1, and there is a progression of shallow and isolated reef’s leading to some deeper edges. It is possible to see large schools of fish and loads of diversity. We spend the night at anchor on Agincourt and snorkel Agincourt Ribbon Reef # 2 the following morning.  Barracuda bommie and nursery bommie are both spectacular underwater peaks with various large schools of fish circling in the current.  There are some beautiful drifts on the inside of # 2 also.

Day 3.)

• Agincourt Ribbon Reef # 2 to Port Douglas 32nm, 5 to 6 hours. We spend the time here snorkelling, SUP boarding and lazing about in the sunshine and enjoying good food and banter. In the afternoon we sail back to Port Douglas which takes around 5 to 6 hours and for those keen fishermen we can set up a trawling line to get the excitement going.

The Port Douglas Private Charter Yacht

Our private charter yacht has a full communication system on board with satellite phone and Internet facilities which are available for guest use at an extra cost should you wish to keep in touch whilst we are at sea.

She is a 51 foot purpose built catamaran designed for the long term live aboard market on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

• The saloon / cockpit area is combined and was designed to comfortably sit 20 people.
• There is a sit down table for six persons and a 200-lt freezer incorporated into the table.
• State of the art galley with all the mod cons built in including, double gas cooker, double sink, fridge, coffee machine, juicer and microwave.
• A 5 KVA diesel genset is on hand for the AC 240 volt needs
• Stainless steel BBQ oven in situated on the duckboard.
• Top of the range water maker (80 lit/ per hour) is on hand when fresh water is required.
• Outdoor hot shower on the port rear
•  Washing can also be done at any time with a 8 kg front loader on board
• Selden, the world largest mast makers, provided the rig and Horizon Sails provided the sail plan.
• Single line reefing allows for the main to be dropped and reefed from the helm. Along with the furling jib and spinnaker.
• Quality lumar winches and hatches provide muscle and watertight integrity where required.
• Twin 54 HP shaft drive diesel Yanmar engines push the boat along in reasonable weather at 8 to 10 knots. When under sail the folding 3 blade props tuck away to minimize drag allowing 15 to 18 knots to be achieved.
• The aft steps were designed for easy access, getting on and off the boat a breeze.
• Slatted timber decks provide a safe platform to access the anchor area, ideal for activities including sunbaking, yoga and chilling out.
• The runabout is a 5-metre RIB inflatable, driven by a 20 HP 4 stroke Yamaha.
