Come whale watching on Australia's Great Barrier Reef on a day tour or an overnight liveaboard dive and snorkel trip to the northern section of the reef. Join a dedicated whale watching cruise, swim with Dwarf Minke whales, or charter a boat along the Queensland coastline for your own private whale watching experience. Whale Watching tours begin June to November with the peak season for swimming with Dwarf Minke Whales in June and July from Cairns and Port Douglasconducted up on the #10 Ribbon Reef. During the peak whale watching season and to the delight of guests making their way out to the Great Barrier Reef on a day tours, they often come in contact with breaching humpback whales during their annual migration to the safe berthing grounds of the protective Barrier Reef. Some guests have also had the amazing experience of a humback whale coming beside their semi-submarine and taking a look at all the passengers inside, and others have had them come and swim amongst the as they were innocently snorkelling the reef. Whilst there is no swimming with humpback whales from Cairns or Port Douglas guests can swim with the highly inquisitive Dwarf Minke whales on liveaboard dive and snorkel tours and on two of the day tours that depart from Port Douglas who hold a swim with whales permits.
