Low Isles 2

Lying about 13kms east off the coast of Port Douglas is Low Isles, two picturesque tropical islands on the Great Barrier Reef. Captain James Cook described the islands as a “small, low island” back in 1770 when sailing on the “Endeavour”; this is where name “Low Isles” came from.

A day trip out to Low Isles is a must-do for anyone travelling to Port Douglas and the Far North and with weather this good, why not get out there now!

Quicksilver Reef Cruises have a luxury sailing catamaran that runs relaxed and fun-filled trips daily from Port Douglas’ Meridian Marina to Low Isles.

Low Isles 1

Your cruise includes morning and afternoon tea, delicious buffet lunch, glass bottom boat tour, guided snorkel tour and guided walk of the Island.

You are free to do as much or as little as you like! Whether you want to explore the beautiful underwater world and discover exciting marine life, see the reef without getting your feet wet on the glass bottom boat or just relax under one of the many palm thatched umbrellas on the island… This tour is for everyone! If you are travelling with you kids (like me) you’ll be glad to know the shallow beach is perfect for them to play, splash and build sand castles!

The on-board photographer will capture all the memorable moments throughout the day and you can purchase the photos at the end of the day, they make fabulous keep sakes!

On the way home why not grab a beer or ice cream and head up to the bow (front) of the boat and enjoy the live music!
