It’s new and it’s Awesome – Three New Boat Cruises From Cairns Queensland Australia
Posted on February 2, 2015 by Sophie Tabouel
1 Hour Cairns Wetlands and Wildlife Tours
The minute you set your eyes on her you know why she is called Awesome!
With racing colours of red and white and 4 x 300 horse power 4 stroke engines capable of speeds of up to 100 kilometres an hour It’s Awesome! You just need to take a cruise on her!
Designed for a thrill ride but oh so smooth and comfortable as she calmly meanders thru the Trinity Inlet at a more moderate speed.
Sit back and relax while being part of an educational and adventurous ‘’smooth water’’ cruise. The inlet that you will travel through serves as a Port for the local area and behind it stands the city of Cairns complemented with a rainforest backdrop and some spectacular mountain views.
The 1 hour journey travels along twenty kilometres of mangrove wetlands which is home to the largest of all living reptiles – the saltwater crocodile so make sure you bring your camera and be ready to get some great close up shots of these ferocious reptiles in the wild in Cairns city.
Along the inlet live some of the rarest birds in Australia making the one hour tour absolutely ideal for bird watching enthusiasts. To name a few, The ‘Great Billed Heron’ known to be the third rarest bird in Australia, the ‘Osprey’ commonly found soaring over the water in search of prey and the White-bellied Sea-Eagle, are all commonly sighted whilst on this boat tour.
The Cairns harbour and its surrounds are rich in pioneering history and it is out here that you will see time worn shipwrecks and sunken barges, and learn all about their stories from days gone by.
That’s Awesome is a Naiad designed speed boat that seats 36 guests comfortably. The vessel reaches speeds of 100 kilometres per hour, therefore a bit of haste will be reached around the back of Admiralty Island away from other vessels for a little bit of fun. This new day tour is suitable for absolutely all ages and is also ideal for all weather conditions.
1 Hour Cruise Departure Times:
Morning tour at 10:30am
Afternoon tour at 2:30pm
Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal, Marlin Marina Berth B1.

Treat yourself to an exhilarating bird’s eye view of the ancient coral cay and the Great Barrier Reef. Helicopter rides are one of the best ways to see the magnificent reef systems and their marine life.
Experience the reef and stay dry by participating in a glass bottom boat tour. This is a great way to learn about the reef through the fantastic commentary that is provided on board, all whilst observing the marine life up close.
The Seawalker is an incredible underwater walking experience that will have you walking along the ocean floor around Green Island. This is a fantastic option for non-swimmers and your hair will stay dry.
- Boat Snorkel Trip
Travel a short distance to one of the best snorkelling sites at Green Island. A safety officer will be on hand to supervise, while you explore the colourful marine life and coral gardens.
Tour 2: Visit Fitzroy Island
If you would prefer take a 30 minute cruise to the pretty Fitzroy Island and its white sandy beaches. The vessel will dock at its own private mooring.
