Cairns - Port Douglas Holiday Accommodation Transfers
The evening begins with a pick-up at your Cairns, Northern Beaches or Port Douglas holiday accommodation. The excitement has already begun as you are heading off to a secret Port Douglas rainforest location situated approximately 10 minutes from the main street of Port Douglas and 50 minutes from Palm Cove. The Cairns regional rainforest is reputed to be the oldest rainforest in the World and is truly a magical place to visit at any time of the day but especially at night when the secrets and shy inhabitants of the rainforest come alive.

Ignite your senses as you walk along a flame lit trail beneath the canopy of the oldest rainforest in the world. Feel the wonder of this legendary place and explore the mysteries of time, Aboriginal culture and Australian cuisine in the spellbinding candlelit drama that is the enchanted rainforest. At the end of the flames of the candlelit trail is a white marquee bathed in red and orange hues from fairy-lights that flicker throughout and trickling chandeliers that add to the enchantment. Guests are led to beautifully adorned tables protectively nestled underneath the all white marquee ensuring the experience is all weather-proof. Seating is not allocated so you may choose to share with others or snuggle up by yourselves. On Saturday nights by request there are tables for two at Flames of the Forest – and this is part of its charm. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights tables of eight to ten provide guests with the ability to interact and socialize with others, a delightful departure from typical restaurant dining experiences.
Complimentary beer, sparkling wine, red and white wine and soft drinks are brought out to compliment each exotic dish. On the Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights, the dinner show features two indigenous Aboriginal brothers who share their history, culture, didgeridoo, songs and stories of their ancestors lives that took place in the very area that you are situated many years ago. While this is going on, the degustation meal commences and the dinner journey begins. Guests get a sense for the Indigenous Australian culture, an authentic taste of a proud and rich culture.
Flames Of The Forest Food
On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights numerous platters of food begin appearing; beginning with a selection of not so traditional bread dampers with a modern culinary twist. Some of the examples of culinary excellence are steamed barramundi wrapped in banana leaves and locally smoked kangaroo pastrami and crocodile on baby spinach with linguini and truffle oil. Vanilla poached tender chicken breast and grain fed sirloin on a rosemary beetroot salad. Fresh salad of Thai style green paw paw with tiger prawns, slow roasted tomatoes with boconccini and lemon myrtle infused rainforest salad and lots more. Flames of the forest menus obviously change with the northern tropical seasons offerings and a range of diets are also specially catered for happily with enough prior notification to enable the chefs to let their culinary skills set your taste buds on fire.
Flames Of The Forest Dinner Show
The Aboriginal Cultural show continues while the rest of the meal begins to come out in very large platters for the table. Be sure to save room on each course though, because you have six main courses to get through as well as a tempting array of dessert.
After the Aboriginal brothers have taken a break to walk around and speak to the guests to ensure that everyone is personally having a fantastic evening, the show begins again for a fantastic conclusion of intriguing stories mixed with more didgeridoo, songs and dance. At the end of the Aboriginal cultural show a unique group activity takes place involving 5 minutes to turn the little lights that illuminate the area off and leave nothing but the flames and the rainforest to take you away. The group sits still and no one speaks. It truly does feel like an enchanted rainforest as your senses ignite listening to the rainforest and its inhabitants sing their own songs in the darkness.
After 5 minutes of silence, the lights go back on and dessert is served: Lavish tropical fruit and berry pavlova smothered with caramelized passion fruit coulis and crowned with Mareeba coffee and bitter chocolate cream is just some of the samplings that may be on offer.There's time for one more drink before the bus has arrived to take you back to your Port Douglas, Palm Cove or Cairns accommodation. Saturday Nights ONLY - Rainforest Dining - Romantic and Intimate
On Saturday night's rainforest dining experience the platters of food are replaced by a six course tasting menu and also includes sparkling wine, red and white wine beer and soft drinks. Should you require an intimate table for two on this evening please request it at the time of booking otherwise seating will be on tables of eights and tens for good conversation with your fellow travellers. This is a night to just enjoy what Mother Nature has created for us and to listen to the rainforest creatures and running waters and creaking rainforest trees. There is no Aboriginal cultural performance on this evening as that is reserved for the Flames of the Forest experience on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights only however the same walk thru the rainforest lit by candles immediately gives you a sense of arrival and the feeling of enchantment.

Bring along a jacket in cooler months and comfortable shoes. If you love your food or are in awe of the natural beauty that Mother Nature provides in our rainforests then do not miss this enchanting dinner in the rainforest. It will be an absolute highlight of your holiday. Flames of the Forest is definitely not suitable for children under the age of 8 years as it is a very special intimate evening. Guests with limited mobility must be accompanied by a personal carer as there are some steps to the bathroom. Bring along a sense of wonder and an appetite for exotic foods.
