Enjoy a 45 minute fast catamaran transfer to Fitzroy Island where your guide will meet you and introduce you to the fun sport that is Sea Kayaking. After an equipment check, safety brief and instruction, glide along the shoreline of Fitzroy Island exploring the islands hidden delights. Visit private beaches accessible only by Sea Kayak. Paddle to Little Fitzroy Island where you will enjoy a well earned picnic lunch on your own private island reserved for Sea Kayakers! Spend time here to snorkel the islands reefs, participate in a guided hike to the islands lighthouse or if you choose simply laze in the sun. An ideal way to see Fitzroy Island and the Great Barrier Reef!
Thunderbolt Half Day Outer Barrier Reef Trip
This is a reef experience like no other, board Thunderbolt 1 and you will find half the fun is getting there! The vessel is the first of it's kind on the Great Barrier Reef and travels at up to 80km per hour making the outer reef accessible in just one hour! Departing from Cairns at 12.30pm Thunderbolt 1 will take you to the outer reef via Fitzroy Island for your half day outer reef experience. Enjoy two hours of snorkelling at two reef sites with all snorkelling gear and instruction included. Afterwards, return to Fitzroy Island where you transfer to our fast catamaran for your return journey to Cairns. For those wanting to spend the morning exploring beautiful Fitzroy Island you can choose to depart on the 8.30am or 10.30am fast catamaran transfer and meet Thunderbolt 1 for your outer reef experience at no additional charge. Thunderbolt 1 is the only half day Outer Barrier Reef experience operating from Cairns and offers you Adventure, Island and a Reef Experience in one great trip!
Fitzroy Island Full Day
A great escape for the whole family awaits you on Fitzroy Island. Located right on the Barrier Reef, Fitzroy is a continental Island, covered in pristine rainforest and is large enough to be able to escape the crowds and enjoy your own piece of paradise. Just a 45 minute fast catamaran ride from Cairns, you will be on the island in no time where you will enjoy a Glass Bottom Boat Coral Viewing tour, choose to take a walk within the 339 hectares of National Park or enjoy the snorkelling right off the beach. You will be treated to a delicious BBQ lunch and are free to use the resorts facilities at your leisure. Return to Cairns late afternoon where you will be transferred back to your accommodation.
Barron River White Water Rafting Half Day
Cairns is lucky enough to have the Barron River located just 20 minutes away, with this half day raft adventure leaving you time to enjoy other attractions on the same day. The Barron River has grade 3 rapids, which means they are perfect for newcomers to rafting. Depending on the time of year, your raft adventure will be either morning or afternoon with you being collected from your accommodation and transferred through the Barron Gorge to the top of the Barron River. After a safety briefing and tuition start your rafting adventure down the Barron. Expect to get wet as you wind your way down the rapids to the calm waters of Lake Placid where you have the opportunity to purchase photos of your adventure and enjoy a cold refreshment. As the sun rises your pilot gently lifts off and glides the balloons quietly over the panorama of the Tablelands region giving you a birds eye view of the wide open spaces that create an environment rich in bird and animal life.
