As you board Ocean Freedom you are welcomed with tea and coffee and scrumptious Danishes and tropical fruit just what you need to start your early morning Great Barrier Reef Adventure.
Ocean Freedoms first location is Upolu Cay is a naturally formed pure white sandy coral cay situated 30 km from Cairns and around an hour and a half cruising time. As you look on the horizon you slowly see the white sand rising and glimmering in the sunshine before you and that is just an amazing experience to see this beautiful sand beach smack bang in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef and the most pure beautiful blue and aqua water surrounding the cay.
Ocean Freedoms guests will be the first foot prints for the day on Upolu Cay as Ocean Freedom is the first boat to arrive in the protected shallow waters. Put on your snorkel gear and enjoy the cool waters and spot green sea turtles, sapphire star fish and the abundant marine life habituating this marine wonderland.
Ocean Freedom guests can participate in an informative glass bottom boat tour with a Marine Naturalists all around the outer reefs from Upolu Cay and become familiar with the names of the different coral reef formations and the different marine life that inhabit each different coral structure. You will find this commentary very informative and useful when you are out snorkeling by yourself on the Wonder Wall.
Your second Ocean Freedom location is where you will spend most of your day; the Wonder Wall is a spectacular reef site thriving in reef and marine life. A really truly wonderful snorkel and dive experience located on the outer edge of Upolu Reef. All of our guests come up from the water with a look of amazement on their faces after their first dive or snorkel at this location. They just have to swim back to Ocean Freedom and tell us what they have seen and then they are gone again.
Its here where you are served a sumptuous buffet lunch of smoked salmon, prawns, chicken, cold meats, salads and breads on board Ocean Freedom. After you have eaten you still have plenty of time at this fantastic location to snorkel, for the adventurous try your hand at a drift snorkel tour along the stunning Wonder Wall getting taken in a dingy to the edge of the wall and drift snorkel back to the boat under the supervision of the very experienced crew or try your hand at diving, Ocean Freedom prides itself on your enjoyment and safety whilst diving the reef so if it is your first time they offer two introductory divers to one dive instructor to ensure your total comfort on your very first dive. Ocean Freedom is definitely the best boat if you want to try an introductory dive but are very nervous. The crew never rush you or tea bag you as we like to call it in the industry, they take you along slowly but surely and are proud to show you the depths of the Great Barrier Reef and the Wonder Wall.
Certified divers are assessed and offered a free guide to the most amazing swim throughs and walls maximizing the most pleasure out of their dives then they are set for their day of exploring.
On leaving this magical place the Ocean Freedom crew, serve you fresh tropical fruit to refresh and hydrate you. Half way home they bring out the cheese and biscuits, and you can choose to purchase a refreshing wine or icy cold beer to accompany this. Then if you didn’t think you could fit another thing in just before you dock the Ocean Freedom crew bring out a selection of delicious cakes.
Ocean Freedom offers an extremely personal experience, taking low passenger numbers, by the end of the day you will feel like you traveled to the reef with friends. Ocean Freedom is beautifully fitted out in saloon style, exceptionally comfortable, with its sundeck, air-conditioned saloon and shaded areas. With two separate Great Barrier Reef locations to explore, excellent food and first class service, you just have to have a day out on Ocean Freedom
