Cairns Night Zoo (Tropical Zoo)
Enjoy a great Australian night out whatever your age or nationality, get the opportunity to experience nocturnal wildlife in the Tropical North Queensland. Leigh and Sam the sulpher crested cockatoo's will greet on your arrival at the Zoo (Watch your fingers though they may think they are food). They will take you through to the restaurant where you can enjoy juicy steaks on the Barbie (barbeque), home made sausages, fresh caught reef fish, chicken from the tablelands, and sweet King prawns along with a variety of healthy salads. The Zoo can cater for any dietary requirements just advice us of your needs upon booking. Wash this delicious meal down with some beautiful Australian wines.
After dinner the guides will provide you with torches and lead you into the darkness to meet the creatures of the night. They will show you how to spot bats, birds and the Spectacle flying fox on the way to the marquee. Here you will meet LG (short for little girl) a squirrel glider, Dusk the barn owl and the mystery visitor in the black box. Then onto the Koala house where you can touch and pat the koalas and take as many pictures as you like. On the way to the Crocodiles you will meet the olive python and if your game you can give him a stroke. The intrepid guides will lead you safely through the crocodile's lair. See their eyes glow in your torch light.
Meet the jolly swag man and join him for a Billy tea and some damper around the camp fire. His friends the Kangaroos will come down to say hello and share a bite to eat. Then back to the restaurant for some good old fashioned bush dancing, a cold beer or a wine or two. Sing along and dance to the good old Aussie bush band and learn how to do the Hokey Pokey it's a lot of fun. As the night comes to an end you have one last chance to pat and get your photo taken with Molly the wombat. The zoo has a large gift shop that's specializes in Australian and locally made products why not take home a souvenir to remind you of your awesome animal experience.
